Virtue Poker announced plans to host a 12-player high-stakes celebrity poker tournament on its platform that will be broadcast live on Twitch. The winner will donate the proceeds of the event to their preferred nonprofit organization.
Celebrity charity tournament with NFTs and freebies
Virtue Poker, one of the first decentralized casinos to use Ethereum and peer-to-peer networking, will soon host a charity poker tournament on its platform. The event will take place on June 22nd and, in addition to exclusive prizes and giveaways, will include several renowned industry personalities.
Poker pros Brian Rast, Poker Hall of Famer Phil Ivey, NBA Hall of Famer Paul Pierce, Consensys co-founder Joe Lubin, crypto entrepreneur Nick Rose from Ethernity and Elliotrades from Superfarm, and other influencers will attend. In addition to celebrities, Virtue Poker will select three lucky community members, one each from Ethernity, Virtue Poker and Superfarm, to compete at the table.
The event will be a standard no-limit Texas Hold’em poker tournament consisting of two rounds with six players per table. After the first round, three players from each table move into the final round. The winner will determine the charitable organization that will receive the proceeds from the event. In addition to the charity, Virtue Poker, in partnership with Superfarm, will also be giving out NFTs to each celebrity that will be used as “bounties” during the tournament.
Live streaming on Twitch and the player’s private channels. This event also includes many awards and giveaways for spectators. By setting the live stream and forecasting in real time, viewers can increase their eligibility for special prices announced during the event.
Consensys founded Virtue Poker in 2016. Under the direction of Ryan Gittleson, the decentralized poker platform was part of several successful funding rounds. It is backed by some of the biggest names in venture capital and private investors, including Pantera Capital, Fenbushi Capital, JRR, and others.
