79 percent of consumers believe that it is important for brands to guarantee guaranteed authenticity. This is the result of a recent survey by the National Retail Federation. Fifty-seven percent are willing to change their shopping habits to reduce environmental damage.
In a crowded market where brand differentiation is imperative, grocery brands can of course benefit from informing consumers Supply chain behind their products to certify their authenticity and sustainability.
How blockchain can certify the food chain
This is what we wanted to achieve at Food Italiae for our locally produced Food Italiae line. Starting with the Aliveris brand for organic, certified and patented non-genetically modified pasta, the idea was to educate consumers at the point of sale about the sustainable way we manage our supply chain from farm to table. By exceeding legal reporting requirements, we help differentiate Aliveris from other brands whose labels contain few useful details.
The answer was to hire business partners SAS Informatica Development of a transparency solution based on the Food Trust. Supported by Blockchain Technology cloudThe Food Trust is an agro-food ecosystem that connects producers, suppliers, processors, retailers and others to create a safer, more trustworthy and sustainable food system around the world.
Authenticity from the farm to the table
The Aliveris Food Trust solution provides a common record of supply chain transactions from seed to warehouse. Wheat farmers enter data on the cultivation of egg farmers, announce their methods, mills and processors describe production steps, retailers note delivery dates. Supply chain participants can post quality tests, sustainability reviews, and other certifications that confirm freshness and authenticity.
The beauty of the system is that the information is available to everyone, including retail customers. By scanning the QR code on each Aliveris package, full origin and supply chain information is shown. In this way, consumers can find out everything about the pasta in the box when shopping – strengthen trust in our brand and set it apart from the competition.
Retailers can also use this feature. For example, buyers from Food Trust members Walmart and Carrefour can rate the supply chain when considering brands for transportation. Our managers can query the Food Trust for real-time information such as: B. insufficient inventory or a production stoppage.
Expansion into the regional UFC multibrand consortium
The Aliveris solution is so promising that we are expanding it into a multi-brand consortium to promote the Umbria region. The Umbria Food Cluster (UFC) will offer Food Italiae brands as well as brands from other local suppliers. The first new members include: the durum wheat producer Molitoria Umbra, the organic EVO farm I Potti de Fratini and the cereal, legume and flour producer Agribosco.
Our developers will create a UFC branded e-commerce marketplace with supply chain visibility supported by the Food Trust. The members of the consortium are pleased to be able to certify the quality, sustainability and the complete origin of their products in Umbria. In this way, consumers can enjoy our products and know that they are authentic, healthy and sustainable.
A new era for global food supplies
Join the ecosystem of producers, suppliers, retailers and others and create a more sustainable food system for everyone.
