A new event is taking place in the Bay Area. Defi Discussions Whiteboarding Weekend, focused on whiteboarding with “some of the brightest people in the Bay Area DeFi scene”. The event is organized by Ric Burton, an early one ether Designer and will run on the weekend of June 5th.
The event, which an estimated a hundred people attend in person, is also offered online, but it is very exciting to meet people in real life.
Burton said of CryptoSlate:
“What is interesting is that people who normally focus entirely on work are now coming out of their shells to socialize.”
The hope is that this can bring new energy to the community. Bitcoin 2021, another major crypto event led by speakers like Jack Dorsey and Ron Paul, will also be held in person in Miami.

Whiteboarding offers participants a unique experience
The Defi Discussions Whiteboarding Weekend does not follow a speaker-centric format common to technical conferences. Instead, the goal is to bring people from the DeFi community together to develop ideas together.
“The aim is to create a comfortable environment for whiteboards and to share their ideas with others. It’s not about sophisticated presentations. It’s more about sharing. What we have learned personally and are trying to involve the online community. “
Burton believes the format is unique because “you can see how the person’s brain is actually working, rather than a refined and rehearsed presentation”. At the start of the whiteboard, the event brings DeFi founders, operators, engineers and others to exchange their thoughts on the “squeaky screen”.
Some of these speakers include Varun Kumar of the Hashflow network, former Bitski safety engineer Jenn Kalidoss, the team of Futures swapand Opyns Alexis Gauba. Guests are experienced in building DeFi projects and will cover topics such as how to start DeFi, politics and protocols, and how to send smart contracts.
The event is expected to accommodate hundreds of attendees over two days
While the event aims to highlight the in-person option, Burton expects hundreds more to attend online. This should create a unique opportunity for those new to DeFi or not attending the Bay Area. The event lasts 4 hours a day on June 5thth-6th and should be exciting. Anyone wishing to participate can register for the event website.
