Digital payments giant Ripple is adding a veteran from Uber and Goldman Sachs to its ranks.
In a new statement, the company announces that Brooks Entwistle is joining Ripple as CEO of Southeast Asia. Entwistle will be based in Singapore, which is Ripple’s headquarters in the region.
Southeast Asia is the fastest growing market for its financial institution-focused global payments network, RippleNet, according to Ripple.
According to Asheesh Birla, general manager of RippleNet, the region is extremely dynamic and Entwistle will help grow it further.
“The introduction of RippleNet among the many fintechs, payment service providers and SMEs in the region makes Southeast Asia our largest market for customer demand and transaction growth. We are excited to welcome Brooks as prosecutor as Ripple redoubles its efforts to fuel our phenomenal growth in the area. “
Entwistle joins Ripple with experience as Chief Operating Officer of Goldman Sach’s Asia unit, according to the executive’s LinkedIn profile. He was also partner and CEO of the investment bank in Singapore, partner and chairman in Southeast Asia, and partner, CEO and country head in India.
At Uber, Entwistle held various leadership roles in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, including Chief Business Officer, Regional General Manager and Executive Sponsor for Women @ Uber.
Entwistle worked at Uber for three and a half years after working at Goldman Sachs for 18 years.
