Matthias Mende, the Chief Strategy Officer of Block Gemini and founder of MEMMOS, is a Dubai-based crypto entrepreneur and socialite who believes in founder stories. He says that “corporate management equals thought leadership” and that people who get to know founders ultimately “have confidence in what is created”.
Today Mende sat down with Alex Fazel, the moderator of the crypto-edutainment channel CryptoNites, for a 38-minute podcast about Bitcoin, decentralized finance (DeFi), income farming and a little bit about his own journey into the crypto sphere to discuss.
For him, the journey from childhood to today was not exactly a journey full of roses. I came here (Dubai) in 2007 because I was a born entrepreneur, so at the age of nine I made money and sold surprise children’s figures, ”he recalled on the podcast, explaining how the entrepreneurial mistake had bitten him first years.
Here’s a snippet of everything!
Talk to DeFi with Mende
Yield farming is the shiny, new (old?) Crypto toy that token holders see to lock their tokens on one farm to provide liquidity for a decentralized crypto exchange or other DeFi protocols and to reduce fees.
And with some farms producing up to 1,000% annual yields, the entire earnings game last year turned into a big frenzy. Some critics have been, perhaps rightly (there is a lot of fraud in this area), negative about the whole thing, but for Mende farming is a relatively safe activity.
“Personally, I love crop farming because it is so profitable and very safe. I think it’s safe for everyone to use. It’s just a little bit complicated,” he said.
“I like Aave a lot. I like cream. I even like sushi. But I personally also like the decentralized exchange. And one of my favorites is actually serum, ”he added.
Serum is a DEX based on the high speed Solana blockchain. The latter offers transaction processing speeds of over 65,000 per second!
“And the nice thing was that they created this so the code could be copied. And they did something that wanted to encourage them to actually create multiple DEXes with liquidity from the main serum, which is kind of like a pool where all of the liquidity is put together, ”Mende said, adding a little about how serum works .
As such, he considers Polkadot, another high-speed blockchain project that aims to be that Blockchain from blockchains. “Polkadot is a very good blockchain and all polka projects are very interesting,” said Mende, adding:
“And Synthetix is very interesting. I mean there are really a lot of things, you know how much of it, this technology, these tokens, (and) they’re still improving, they’re still rolling out. “
