Co-founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin The network is about to scale 100x and its Layer Two solution will be released in the near future.
Speaking on the Tim Ferriss PodcastAccording to Buterin, Optimism is about to launch its mainnet, which will allow users to access long-awaited Layer-Two solutions for scaling.
Buterin said: “Rollups are coming very soon. We firmly believe that by the time we need more scaling to be sharded, it will be a long time to come. “
With rollups, transactions can be bundled and stored on specific sidechains, which relieves the network activity of Ethereum and increases the scalability of the protocol. Buterin’s comments are due to the rising gas charges on the Ethereum network, forcing certain crypto projects to look elsewhere for a native blockchain protocol.
According to Buterin, rollups would potentially add 100x the scalability of Ethereum, giving users cause for celebration in the meantime before sharding is released.
He continued: “The thing to remember is that if you have rollups but don’t have any shards, you still have a 100x factor scale, right? Depending on how complex these transactions are, the blockchain can still execute between 1,000 and 4,000 transactions per second. “
