API3, a provider of decentralized APIs (dAPIs), has announced integration with Moonbeam, the project that simplifies the process for Ethereum applications to extend to the Polkadot blockchain ecosystem and makes APIs easily available for multi-chain applications.
The Moonbeam platform provides a full implementation of Ethereum on Substrate and enables Ethereum developers to deploy existing smart contracts and dApp front ends to Moonbeam with minimal changes. Moonbeam benefits from lower gas costs than Ethereum and the cross-chain functionality of Polkadot.
Part of the API3 vision is to enable developers to create dApps that mimic the richness of Web 2.0 apps. Most of the apps that users use only exist because they can access a wide variety of APIs. Offering tools other than pricing data is critical to making this possible in Web 3.0. As part of the integration, API3 can provide dApp developers on Moonbeam with access to the full library of Airnode-enabled APIs.
“The future is multi-chained and Moonbeam is a great way for EVM-dApps to get there. We’re excited to leverage the API3 ecosystem for apps running on Moonbeam. “
– Heikki Vänttinen, co-founder of API3
This integration is also the first step on the way to providing dAPIs (data feeds) for Moonbeamto create dApps with truly quantifiable, DAO-aggregated data. Moonbeam simplifies the developer experience and combines full Ethereum compatibility with the power of Polkadot, including scalability, cross-chain integrations and on-chain governance.
